Marta Gurzeda

Marta is currently a first year PhD student. She completed a Bachelor of Psychological Science degree in 2022 at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and was awarded First Class Honours for her thesis on the mechanisms underlying the impact of visa status on suicidality in refugees. Since then, Marta has worked as a research assistant at the Refugee Trauma and Recovery Program (RTRP).

As a research assistant, Marta has been involved in coordinating RTRP treatment program for PTSD as well as supporting the team on other projects. Currently, she is conducting her doctoral thesis under supervision of Prof Angela Nickerson. Her research will explore the role of emotion regulation in the development of PTSD in refugees.
